It’s not so much the Marmite but the clothing.
This week I was possibly the only bloke in Norfolk wearing a long sleeved shirt, long trousers and socks with my shoes @ 28C. No Europeans that I came across in East Africa wore shorts or short sleeved shirts during rain season.

That said, in the sixties I worked in Inverinan Forest, on wind blow. When we southerners complained about the insects, the old ganger told us: “Get a good sweat on and droon the boogers.”

I turn into the Elephant Man these days when bitten by mozzies. I never used to, didn't even notice. They can all burn.

Not really had any issue with anything for years, but this year I've had occasions where midges and fly's (Horse and Deer) have been taking their pound of flesh. They really need to take more as I have put on a lot of weight in the last year and a half.
One of the company directors mentioned that "Jungle Formula" wasn't cutting it this year, did I have anything else as a suggestion. When jungle formula doesn't work I go to Life systems Expedition Max (I used to use expedition 100) and that appears to keep the little blighters at bay.
Beyond that I have a Flextail Evo Repeller. That seems to work in enclosed areas like the tents at work.

When I worked in the Bahamas the mosquitoes no longer bothered me after the first few weeks. It may be that I had built up a natural resistance as has been suggested above. But it may be because I took a local's advice and ate a lot of garlic: don't know about mosquitoes but it works on humans.
