Fungus doesn't look "yellow enough" to be Chicken of the Woods - it'd be good to know the tree it was growing on to have a better idea of what it might be - but I don't have my books to hand here.

The berries look like "Haws" - berries of the Hawthorn - any leaves still on the tree to aid positive ID?

It grew on a goat willow. I think you're right on the hawthorn berries! How could I not have thought of that? Thanks
