some of my spoons (pic heavy)

I've been recovering from a nose op over the last couple of weeks which has meant that i've not been able to get out and about. However, this has meant that i've had a bit of time for carving and the like and thought i'd post some pics of my spoons (first few are a bit bleached out)

the latest ones are field maple

the smaller spoon has a rather annoying knot in the handle

does anyone have any suggestions on how to stabilise this before oiling it, or do I just have to live with it?

Tools used were GB swedish carving axe and wildlife hatchet; mora bushcraft 2080 for bigger knife work, svante djarv carving knife and mora 920 (love these little knives) for the small knife work and svante dvarj and ben orford crook knives.

I'm thinking of trying a kuksa next

Lovely! I really like the top one in the top pic, in particular. Nice lines, and the maple has a nice figure to it. Nice arsenal of carving tools too!

ta, I do like the field maple but it does seem to dry and harden very quickly and if you stick it in a plastic bag it tends to develop mould quickly. I've built the tools up over a while and there are some nice ones but the cheap mora carving knives are brilliant for under a tenner and the handle is a great shape to use despite being plastic

Nice spoons.Looks like you have been carving day and night. I would also sugest that you try super glue on the knot.Or a small dab of epoxy.

When you want to save the knot and keep it visible, use superglue.
Otherwise carefully cut out some surface of the knot.
Collect some dust of your wood you've cut your spoon out.
Mix it with some wood glue, and apply it.
When the glue is dry, sand the spoon and oil it.
