We were fortunate enough in the UK to witness a partial solar eclipse this morning, coverage was approx 22% of the sun from my location in the south of England, i didn't think i would be able to see it as we have thick thick cloud and intermitent rain showers, but at around 10:15 BST the clouds broke just long enough for me and the family to see the eclipse through my telescope, which i hasten to add had a full solar filter fitted to the objective lens and the event was witnessed on the view screen of my camera not through the eye piece, i managed to get 75 images of the event in total (thank god for continuous mode on the camera), one of the shots taken as below in white light.

Very nice indeed :)

I remember a few years ago turning up to work on the day of the Venus transit with my
mylar (is that the stuff?) specs and quite a few people in the office took turns to peer
through them to see teeny tiny Venus pootling across the base of the solar disc over
a few hours. Didn't get any photos though - wouldn't know where to start with that sort
of thing so I am grateful to others for sharing theirs :)
