Came across this seller on ebay, Outdoor Knitwear, which is the retail outlet of T.W.Kepton, makers of some military kitAnybody used their jackets or other kit? The prices are good, you may get cheaper used jackets but these are new.

I like 'softie' jackets but the zips gone on mine so need a new one.

I put a link up on here a while back when I got one of their jackets, I think I paid £20 for it. I'm pretty pleased with mine, all the stitching appears to be good, the fit is good (although a little longer in the body than I'd like), the fabric and zips appear to be good. It's quite a tight fit for the provided stuff sack, so I made a slightly bigger one, it now works really well as a pillow.
I haven't let the rain fall on it so I have no idea how well it deals with water.
I haven't had to wash it so I have no idea how well it copes with the washing machine.

IMO it's definitely worth the price.

Anything else you'd like to know?

For sake of clarity, this is the jacket that I've got http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160904689...sid=p3984.m1423.l2649&clk_rvr_id=574955864363

Looks like the "issue" gear I bought off the carboot last summer, if it is the same then you wont go far wrong.

I've got the sand/RAF blue jacket - after seeing the thread on here last year. Its robust ( use it sensibly though), showerproof, washes well + benefits from the wash-in proofers. Keeps its insulation properties when wet too. Really pleased with it.

Yeah I have a large snugpak softie and want to replace it with a medium as it's too big really. Just need to check that the outdoor knitwear ones are comparable in weight!

I'm 5ft 9in with a 38in chest, and the small (at least I think it is) is pretty big on me - its the same length as my normal hiking jacket, and its very roomy inside. I thin there is a size guide on the web somewhere, but basically, they are huge, full stop. Its the reason that the bulk of them jackets that come up on Ebay are large, etc - the small ones are pretty much the only ones that vaguely fit most people, and so are like gold dust.

I paid about £8.95 for mine in a charity shop, which is reasonable, but my local surplus place knocks them out at £25, which is average for the net. Thats a fair amount for a surplus jacket which is about the size of a normal insulated jacket, but which doesn't swish down all that well into a pack. If I was thinking of dishing out £30 or so, I might save my money and buy something like this: http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/montane-prism-2-0-mens-insulated-jacket-p102225 - £60 but gets very good reviews.
