Time to replace my ancient 3 season bag. I'm looking at Snugpak in particular but any other recommendations gratefully received. I particularly like the expanding baffle so I'm probably sticking with Snugpak though

I've read excellent reviews for the Elite 3, and I've read some real stinging ones aswell. Many people reckon it isn't capable of keeping you warm at -5. So maybe the Elite 4?? Or would a Chrysalis Autumn be best?

I would be using it at this time of year and further into winter, also early spring, but not in really freezing conditions. Another consideration is that I mainly use a hammock and only occasionally a tent. I don't use an underquilt (yet!) but have a self inflating mat under me, and I don't like to sleep in loads of clothes, just trousers and shirt with the option of putting on a jumper if I get cold.

I know a lot of you rate these bags so I'm interested to hear your views.

Elite 3 will not keep you warm at -5 IMHO ( mine doesn't, and I run hot ). Great bags due to pack size and low weight.
If those are important features for you go with a 4 .
Hope this is helpfull.
Chris.

Thanks fellas, I'm seriously leaning upwards the Chrysalis for it's weight and pack size.

Anyone here use one?

I had the Elite 4 for a couple of years, a great bag which kept me toasty in the hammock through the Scottish winters.

I know snugpak "exaggerate" their ratings, but i've used a Snugpak Sleeper zero with an issue bivi bag in -9 with no problems. Worn only a t-shirt and shreddies and found it to be warm. I think it might depend on how hot or cold you sleep or what you wear in it aswell. And yet i've used a Snugpak 9 and frozen!
