Hi
Purchased this neat stove
Do any of you have similar ?as the wick looks as if it is not original
Brass tube covered by a tube shape wick and a string type inside the tube, both to short to absorb the meths that is held in some filling inside the tank
Any pictures of yours or help please
Thanks
Mick

nice buy (and with matching cup no less!)! Probably get away with rolling up some fibreglass wick to the correct thickness (or even getting some cylindrical wick of the correct diameter) - try ebay. Ideally a bit of carbon felt would do the job a treat, but dunno where to get it in the UK. I know you can buy it from Tinny at Minibull Designs in the USA (I bought a piece with my last order from him).

Seeing as though Tinny ships for $5 you probably won't get the felt cheaper in the UK plus I too have not found a supplier this side of the pond! You can use the sheets of fibreglass from Halfords for car body repair as a wick with some success?

Steve.

Nice system,
I purchased 130ft + shipping for £20 from mini bull designs, and it arrived within few weeks of order placement, much quicker than I expected.
its a fiberglass wick approx 3mm in diameter. the weave is identical to that of amsteel if you know what that looks like.
very pleased with it.

I have not seen anything similar in my web searches in the UK so far.

Visited local store to look for a wick that could be modified to fit the stove
Most were for parrafin heaters and the price was all about £6-£10 and some more
Went to my shed to see what I could use and found a money bag from a bank made of a cotton material I had old tent pegs in it
I cut the bag up and rolled it into a tight roll until it fitted the neck of the stove
I then cut up into the roll and made tails on the lower part which I stuffed into the stove so it would contact the internal stuffing
I squirted about 200 mls of meths into the stove with a srynge
Filled the cup with 400 mls of tap water and set it up for a trial run
!0 deg outside temp, with light wind, no wind shield
It took 25 min to reach 80 deg,hot enough for a drinking chocolate drink
Going to try rubbing two sticks together in the water to see if the friction will heat it quicker [only joking]
Will raise the wick a bit and try again
