I loves shooting cattys when i was a kid, and like most boys back then its was a rare day when i didn’t leave the house without one. Not shot with one in a few years, need to get back in to it, great fun and as already said really lends itself to this interest of ours.

Slightly off topic but possibly of interest to people here. :)

Has anyone ever tried using a shepherd sling or Balearic sling? They're much much harder to learn than a catapult/slingshot and take a lot of practice to get proficient but once you have the required skill level they can pack one hell of a big wallop. Imagine how much force of a golf ball sized pond pebble (or lead 'bullet') traveling at up to 100mph has! It's no wonder they used to be used to smash the metal armor of Roman soldiers back in the old days.

I got used to the anticlockwise manner of throwing so the stone shoots in an arc up and away, but apparently the better way is to spin the opposite direction as if throwing a spear, to get the accuracy. This is a lot more painful on the knees and ankles if you get the timing wrong and whack yourself. Also advise if practicing that style to keep knees together or otherwise protect ones self as sore knees is preferable to sore nads.
