Sleeping bag system including bivy for around £100-150 - options?

By sheer miracle, the modular sleep system turned up at my door today. Lucky me, that I didn't order another bag before this one arrived.

Now the only thing left is to claim a refund for the ridiculous shipping time.

Thanks for all the suggestions, but I think I'm all set with this system.

Regards

Give it a thorough testing and let us know how you like it. I like mine (for the versatility as you mentioned in the OP) Remember you don't have to carry the whole big, heavy thing on every trek; just the bits you need for your destination.

Bag will most likely undergo testing this coming weekend. With promises of temperatures around -10 degrees celcius, I should be able to put it through it's paces.

Will post back with my findings.

Just did some conversion to farenhright. 10c should only require one of the bags rather than the whole system.

The US MCSS temp rating is a military survival rating for 4 hours sleep, not a comfort rating, and requires the user to be wearing the ECWS thermals, IIRC

You do remember correctly. That said my own experience is that temps into the 50s f (10c) isn't all that cold and just one bag SHOULD be fine. Especially if it's the black bag (the intermediate)

That may be the case but at 20 degrees less than that , as expected, he'll need both! It was -13C here on my way into work this morning, always enjoyable when the skoosh freezes on the windscreen.

I'll bring both + the bivy for sure. I'd rather wake up warm than cold :o

Thanks for all the interest - perhaps the testing will result in a trip report in another part of the forum.

Regards
