made by polywarm products

i think it may be goretex

no zip

what is it, doesnt seem to be a bivvy bag?

don't polywarm make mvp (goretex) stuff for british military? like bivvi's and jackets/trousers? bivi bag usually is cllaed sleeping bag cover mvp, but you say it's not a bivvy, not sure what else it could be, hooped bivi would be zipped also.

its the cover then.

as you can see, its just a bag with a hood and drawstring top

Its a bivvy bag matey! just a more recent one with the wider mouth, the only difference between that and the normal one is the extra piece of material sewn in to the front for a wider access. I have exactly the same one.

in daylight, stand up inside it with head at the feet end, i know this sounds daft, but you can inspect it much more thoroughly than either filling it with water, which is a massive task, putting it in the bath, or trying to run a torch all round it on the inside. this way any small wholes will be obvious, you will also have a giggle at how mad you must look. i found loads of pin size holes in mine using this method that i couldn't see from an outward inspection.
