any recommendations for a shoulder/courier type bag
canvas or similar heavy duty material
olive green, black, dark brown (not a fan of camo or ridiculously bright colours)
1 compartment and a pocket or 2 preferred, but 1 large compartment also considered
budget up to £30

There's loads of stuff written about this bag on the net.
Mine is 68 years old and still going strong. After my trousers I truly believe that this is the handiest thing I own. It's just the right size for going about town, when on the road it's perfect as a travel organiser and it serves as my navigation/Haribo bag out in the sticks.
The fitted strap is a bit short as the bag is meant to be worn on the chest so replacing it with a longer strap is a good idea.

There is still a good few lying about in dark, musty corners of surplus shops and at militaria fairs.

I have a couple that I picked up in charity shops for a couple of quid each. They may not be as "technical" as a proper bag, but they do everything as well.
