Dc4 is it the way to go? where do I get one from? (cheap!)
Want to sharpen my sak same method and stone?
Finally got the carbon mora and got some like water type stains on it anything to get rid of them? I know its petty but thought I may polish them out.

Tommy, the DC4 is a damned good bit of kit and you should be able to sharpen just about any edged tool you'll ever need to with the thing. My guess is that Andrew at Outdoorcode http://www.outdoorcode.co.uk/catalog/ is probably the best place to buy one from. ( He's a member here too ;) )

For sharpening techniques and tips have a search through the forum and you'll have more info than you'll be able to take in at once.

Tommy,
The way to go for cheapness is the "£5 sharpening set up" that is a stickie thread in this section. There are many other ways to go, most of which should result in the edge you want, but at a range of prices from reasonable to horrendous.

You ought to be able to get the stains off the Mora with any old metal polish. The one I always seem to end up using is Autosol. It's sold in car spares shops and the like and comes in a tube like toothpaste. I always have some to hand because it's also excellent stuff to load a leather strop with for putting that final polish onto a "shaving sharp" edge ;) .

You might be saving on firelighters but spending out on cotton wool & vaseline - time to practice with some natural tinders methinks

Thanks Ogri, I tried the cotton wool /vas method as it was close to hand. I think anyone in 'my neck 'o' the woods' may have had a tad hard time with the weather and lighting/gathering anything yesterday!!!
Will be on the look out for natural tinder as my skills progress but for now I am still chuffed! :D
Autosol is on my list as well now. D
