Well I messed up my brand spanking new F1 about 5 months ago (back in the UK).
It arrived mail order "scary sharp".
I read all these things about secoundry bevels and taking them off with sand paper.
I'd also read about sharping convex knives with wet n dry and a mouse mat.
Non of these things worked for me.
I've been alone in Japan since March.
Fiddled and pondered over it.
I got a wet stone. Cost about a tenner.
I spent 20mins last weekend.
Plenty of water, keeping the paste from the stone, not too thick.
I thought this is fairly sharp.
It wouldn't cut hairs though.
I gave it a few strops on my belt.
Hey presto, a bald leg!!!
Will sharpening my F1 on a stone ruin it?
I want a sharp knife.
Using a stone is easy for me, it works very well.
I'm not bothered about what edge you call it.
So long as it works!
If I carry on, will I destroy my knife or something?
Should I stop?
Or am I OK doing what I'm doing?
It does get it sharp, which is what I want.
Thank you.
JC.
