My wife ordered me a 510 last week but i was just notified that they are all out and the seller offered to substitute it for a 521 or 511. An other knife that he offers that is of equal value is the KJ Eriksson Mora Carbon Knife # 1. Just curius wich you guys would choose and why. I wanted the 510 becouse i had heard it has a longer tang than the others.

Am I the only one who gets confused when people talk about Mora knives in terms of numbers? I haven't a sodding clue what the numbers mean and wonder if anyone does.
To me, they're either the ones with solid plastic handles or the ones with rubber handles. Nice and easy.

Ditto mind you I differenciate to stainless or carbon

The only difference I see between the 511 and the 521 is that the 521 has a slightly longer blade. I don't own any mora knives at the moment so I don't know much but I hear some people find the wooden handled knives uncomfortable to hold, like the handle is a little too short. As for tang length, the 510 does have a longer tang from the x-ray pic I saw but I haven't seen the others tangs so I don't know. Some people don't mind the handle of the wooden ones so if you wanted a knife without a guard then maybe it would be the better choice but as I said, I don't own a single one so don't go by me.

I love the 510. I would get the one with the bigger blade and cut off the guard. Then later you can get the 510 and it will still be different. I have a 510 and am thinking of getting the bigger bladed knife still

The wooden handled Moras are excellent, with full length rat ail tangs.
I use loads of them as the basis for field knive - rehandled and given a decent leather sheath!
I prefer the Jonsson make, followed by the Erikson laminated blades, but Frosts are good too.
The ones labelled "Mora" are more common now....
Never had a bad Mora blade yet!

Well that did it i asked for the 521 last night. Thanks for your help guys, now if i can just locate a proper leather sheath for a 521.

That is actually were i am getting the knife wich still has not shown but i am hopefull. The 15 inch Wetterling i ordered came last friday. Despite not having the item i ordered in stock i am very pleased with the service so far. I looked again but could not find a sheath for the 521.

You could b on to soemthign here. I wanted to get a Eno Trapper at soem point anyway so if there is a problem it wont be a big deal. Thank you for the help.

The enzo sheath would definitely fit. I use the JRE bushcraft sheath personally for my moras. Don't forget, the 521 has the same handle as the 510 just with a guard and larger blade.
