Seaxe Pic heavy

I have been hearing Seaxe a lot recently and started doing a bit of research, I decided to make one and I am rather pleased with the outcome my pictures don't do this justice sorry
Have a look and let me know what you think.

The Bolster is made from copper , the wood is very old box wood I have had for about 20 years, this was cut into three sections and copper spacers put in so the figure of the wood matches up the handle.

The pommel is made from laminated copper and steel I am very pleased with this piece of metal, when i buffed it the copper wears away faster leaving the steel raised it then got a wipe over with ferric chloride to darken the steel.

the blade is 195mm long and has a hammered finish with a polished convex bevel wiped over with ferric to show a very faint quench line. The overall length of the tool is just over 300mm long and it had a triple quench as do all my knives.
Let me know what you think guys.

Very nice, i'm not a great lover of large knives but I like that a lot. The pommel is ace, I wouldn't have thought you could 'join' copper and steel as they are so different in hardness:rolleyes: - you learn something new every day!:)

Thanks for the comments guys , anyone that has met me would know i dont use or make large knives usually but I really like this it has that " Must chop something " feel to it when you hold it lol , I will have a go at a sheath for it when i get a bit more spare time.
The Pommel I have done a lot of experimenting with this kind of materials Singteck got one of the early experimental bits i made quite a while ago , I have found you can join most kind of metals together if you do it right :)
Glad you like it
