Hey All, Iv'e been speaking with a guy called Pete who has some opportunities for people to work in China, could be an amazing opportunity for some, details below.

Like working with kids and want the chance to teach survival skills for a full-time job… In China?! Imagine-china.com is offering placements for British (or other English-speaking) outdoor education specialists.
The package includes visa, flights, accommodation and a wage high enough to have some saved by the time you come back.
This would give candidates the chance to really ‘live and breath’ the outdoor lifestyle, improve their own skills, and have great experience to add to a CV. You would be running day trips and weeklong camps to woodland areas, teaching survival skills to kids aged 7-13.
You must be able to demonstrate friction fire lighting, a variety of other survival skills at this level or below, and have some interesting survival tales to bring out when sitting around the fire.
You must also have experience working with kids, be patient, fun and genuinely enjoy teaching kids.
You will also get involved with curriculum development and other outdoor activities such as team-building, zorbing and water sports. Chinese language is not required. The ideal time periods would be mid March to July in Beijing and July to October in Shanghai/Suzhou area, but shorter or longer stays can also be discussed (minimum four months total).

Are you ready for the adventure? Just email peter@imagine-china.com

sounds like a great opportunity..... during my travels I've been involved in working with kids while doing volunteer work....
( wish I had the qualification documents for a job like this-- but (most of) my outdoor knowledge is either self-taught ( from books or bcuk) or collected from aborigines and other true outdoor masters......)

Volunteer work looks good on a cv though :) and if it's for an organisation with a reputable background then references ought to be available.
You might well find that the folks advertising would look favourably on such things :)

I think the bottom line here is that you can demonstrate your capabilities and that's the requirement, it's up to them to vet people and make sure they're good enough. I'd say to anyone that's in a position to do this and has some experience with children and the skills to go for it, there's nothing to loose.

Im allergic to kids, I come out in a rash.

And in Mandarin, my name comes out as Tien-kou (a meteorite.)

But this sounds like a fantastic opportunity for the right person.

Well done indeed, that's an opportunity with the potential to open doors into a new world. You realise we will need to be kept informed? Our very own ambassador to China! :)

I was half tempted to apply myself but I realised my Owner and Tutor would not want me escapng.

(Even the Manx National Museum had to reassure him they would return me.)

I will of course keep you all informed! That article on the snakes has made me slightly cautious... I'll take my big 9" blade with me :p

And a hammock! With barbed wire...
