Hi all

Mollie got clobbered by Seasonal Canine Illness (SCI) today.
We took her to the vet who gave her a couple of jabs and some pills.
Symptoms came on fast and dogs have died of it.

Thats a disease I had never heard of. Not a dog owner at the moment but up to be again whenever we can afford another mouth to feed. Thanks for the info and I hope Mollie gets better soon..

Hope Mollie is OK. Sadly we lost one to it this season and almost lost another. Had to cut short a trip to the lakes to rush back when the second went down with it. If the chap who was looking after the farm for us hadn't spotted our fella "wasn't his usual self" and took him to the vets, I think we would have lost him too. Sadly it wasn't spotted in the first and put down to old age with complications. The good news is our fella is back working sheep again and should be competing this weekend.

Heard something about this 12 months ago, a few dogs living not too far from where i excercise my mine were being struck down with a mystery illness after walking in

the same woodland area, and they were blaming a possible poisoner, never heard anythjng else after the initial newspaper report.

This is worth knowing about, thanks for posting.

Good post, thanks. I had heard of it but no real knowledge. Hope your Mollie gets over it soon.

I received an email with info on the Blue-green algae toxicity problem the other day, I won't hijack this thread so I'll post it up seperately.

its a sad thing that it can leave you scared of taking a dog to one of its (and probably your) favorite places. i ll run the risk, i work in the woods my dog belongs there!
