I prefer the helve shape on Wetterlings, but the fit and finish can be poor - I would try to see the axe I was buying before handing over money (applies to GB as well)

cheers fellas, iv had the GB small forest axe in the past which was great but too short for me, hence why im after a longer one. My heads keeps saying GB but a part of me thinks go for something different.. its a tricky one indeed.

Go with the Hultafors chopping axe cowboy. A friend of mine makes them (Cegga) and they are as good as any - and a lot cheaper

I can recommend the scandi forest axe mate, ive found it to be a good weight and fine for splitting but I tend to be a bit heavy handed anyway.

Sorry cant compare the two but the GB scandi forest axe has been my woods partner for about six years now.
Used lots of other axes but nothing has ever threatened its position in my kit.
