Can anybody tell me if mahogany is any good for the scales on a knife, i may be getting my hands on a large piece very soon. For size try thinking of a mantle piece over a fire, that would make a lot of scales i think ! I'm not making a knife but if the wood is ok i am thinking of splitting it up for the knife makers amongst us for something in return maybe ?

what do you guys think ?:newbie:
