The dog and I decided to go out onto the hills near Blaenavon today, and explore a bit we hadn't been into before.
At first sight, it isn't very inspiring. Lots of old spoil heaps, fly tipping, illegal scrambling bike scars, and the odd burnt out vehicle.
(I grabbed one of those inner tubes as potential firelighter on the way home)
But on second viewing, you see masses of heather, lots of wildlife, some great views, and realise that despite the proximity of two towns, there is no-one about. The area is part of a world heritage site for industrial history.
Lunch was on the top, on a patch of concrete, with nice views.
Then it was time to go home.
Finding the car was easy, as I'd had the foresight to park under a convenient rainbow.
The trip home wasn't bad either.
Good day all round.
