Ten years ago as a novice bushcrafter a friend gave me a Helle blade for a project,
but back then I had little knowledge, experience or tools to create a satsifactory job for a knife handle.,,
Finally got round to taking the plunge yesterday,
It was still a first attempt into the unknown for me but I was quite chuffed how it came out, its not perfect but I am now looking forward to re-handling some of my Mora carvers,,

I bought a bag full off Burr off cuts at a country show from a wood turner (I think this is Californian Redwood but I will stand corrected) , and found a piece of 1/4" brass plate at a car boot for this project, it is finshed with Danish Oil,

thank you in advance for your interest,
kind regards
P.

You say its your first time? Thats a cracking job, especially for someone who's never done it before, and it's a nice piece of wood too.
Top job.

Sent via smoke-signal from a woodland in Scotland.

Thank you for all your kind comments they are greatly appreciated,
I must say that although this was my first knife handle I have now been making spoons, Kuksas, pot hangers, walking sticks etc. for a while
so I can not lay claim to be an out-and-out beginner with wood,

BUT......I am STILL learning,

not everything turns out as it should,,,

this was last Saturdays efforts,,
What started out as an old roofers axe,,,

was supposed to end up as a Tomahawk,, (inspiration from Papashawks)

instead I gained two paper weights and a firestick!

but not a complete waste of time, from this experience I learned alot and moved on ready for the next attempt,
