I have a question for you
Ever tried "Island bere" made by Valhalla brewery? It's made from bere barley
which is a variant of barley grown on Orkney and it's believed that it's been growing
there since possibly arriving in the 8th century or thereabouts with some Viking
people. The bere has been used in Orkney for ages to make bannocks but there
are moves afoot to expand the range of products, including biscuits and whisky.
Apparently it's the sort of thing that might be popular among modern day Vikings.
