when i watched news at ten last night donations had just gone over the 100k mark, so just shy of 200k donated overnight, as you say, really quite inspiring
 
Sad death but I'm glad to hear the public responde so well. This is the first I'd heard of it. I have a friend (son of an XGF actually) who ran in the marathon Sunday.
 
It is sad that she died doing what she so enjoyed... but what a lasting memorial there will be with the way the public are responding. At the moment it's topped over £500,000 in donations with no sign of it letting up yet.

Sometimes a sad story of a young lady giving up her life in the persuit of trying to benefit others just reminds us of our own humanity and responsibility to others less fortunate than ourselves. God bless her and those that suffer her loss
 
I dontated this morning after reading the story, seemed wrong not to, so I'm guessing this is why it's still so ongoing. Good thing too. One of the things it did allow in the donation process was to post a note. So I did which said "Dear Samritans I hope you use this money wisely and it doesn't line the pcket of some admin manager somewhere."

At the rate it's going they could open a hospital wing at this rate. Can see that happening too "The Claire Squires Wing" has a nice ring to it.

It was featured on Jeremy Vine show today and the total was increasing by the second. The Gifting web site have agreed to waive the 5% fees and said that yesterday there were more than 10,000 people logged onto her page at the same time.
 
Total so far is £546,073.18

that's £246,000 more than it was 12 hours ago.

Good for her, I just hope she's able to look down and see just what an impact she made.

In the time it took me to read and then type the above I refreshed her donations page and the total donations had jumped another £300!! Amazing!

So sad.

But you know what, I cannot think of many better ways to go.. taking part in such an event and raising such an epic amount of money for a worthy charity. If I could choose, I think that would be high on my list. Rest in peace.
 
Truely very sad......
And I hope those she left behind can find some comfort in the achievements she initiated and that those achievements will be used wisely.
What a legacy, indeed.
