Rust prevention?

Just got myself a nice axe and some carving knives. After a quick search it seems camellia oil is the way to go. Does it have to be tool specific one or can I use something like this:

instead? Maybe something else that's cheaper and easier to get hold of?

Keeping your tools dry, and oiled lightly is normally enough to inhibit rust. I think camellia oil is probably a little bit overkill unless your tools need to be food safe.

I usually wipe mine down with a rag dipped in a mix of paraffin and boiled linseed oil, I use it on the handles too.

I use Danish oil on my axe and parangs. Dries nice and hard for a durable lasting protection.

In the beginning, at least I'll be carving mainly food vessels ie spoons and kuksas so I suppose they do need to be food safe. Better safe than sorry, eh?

Is danish oil food safe? Or did silverhill mean tools coming in contact with food?

Danish will be fine on your axe. Blades coming into contact with food will need oil that is food safe.
