I went to B&Q on sunday. It was a lovely day and we decided to have a barbie, so I needed to pick one up.
I found this (Knife for scale)
It has two levels of grill racks that swing in or out - obviously one gets much hotter than the other and allows you to control cooking temperature crudely. The grills themselves slot in and out, making them easy to stick in the dishwasher.
A third hot plate swings over on the top - If you use enough charcoal this can be used for frying eggs or bacon, or presumably a pot or billy could be put on the top to cook or boil.
The charcoal pan is also removable, making it easy to get rid of the ashes once you are done. An additional feature is the insertable gas cooker section
An entire unit, complete with regulator to attatch to a gas canister is also provided.
The unit is quite compact, making it an ideal BBQ for car camping - you wouldn't want to lug this around in your backpack, but it will easily fit into the smallest car boot.
Of course you won't get food for a family of eight on this thing, but it can easily handle 2-4 peoples' burnt meat and veg
The unit can also be used as a smoker - I'm going to give it a go at wood chip smoking some jerky. There are airflow regulators (holes that can be covered
) built in to the unit, an additioanl foot rest for stability, a carry handle is also included and the instruction manual even shows an optional car attatchment which I can't quite work out. The picture seems to indicate towing it behind your car
All in all this is a great little barbecue. Compact enough to sling in the car or use in the garden, effective at burning your meat and very flexible in its uses.
The best bit - (and I still can't get my head around this given retail profit, shipping and manufacture) is it costs under a tenner!!!! Yep that's right..£9.50 or somesuch!
I reccomend you get yourself down your local B&Q and grab one while they still have them.
Happy charcoaling
