I was rummaging through some kit today trying to sort out some stuff for junior's DofE when I came upon an old pouch which I haven't seen for quite a few years.
Inside I found an old friend: my first Laguiole pocketknife which was given to me by a French friend of my mum's when we went to Paris in the 1980s.It's a shade over 4" long with a 2" blade , flat ground with a tiny secondary bevel and very very sharp indeed. It's by Rossignol and is a very traditional Laguiole shape , with buffalo scales and brass pins and bolster. The spring is chased with a nice pattern and the bee which characterises Laguiole.
I used it as a table knife for some years and have also used it to prep rabbits, hare and squirrel.Despite being so small it punches way above it's weight and just seems to fit the hand so well.
I thought it must have been stolen years ago as I used to carry it everywhere until it vanished.I was so pleased to find it again I had to give it a quick strop. Both Junior and SWMBO have taken a fancy to it so I expect it to vanish again fairly soon!
I thought you might like to see it.
