Red first head torch

Hi

Apologies if covered before but I'm trying to find a cheap ish head torch that has red light first? Red and white is fine,don't need colours of the rainbow and normal batteries if possible

Alpkit gamma has a red light on the battery pack, if you are after something to check maps by at night.

Apart from that, maybe a poundland bike rear light on a strap would work.

Hi , Not sure if you will find one to be honest , maybe better off to just get a cheap 'white' 1st one headtorch and apply a colour / filter to the lens , so you at least get what you want.

Petzl do them with flip down filters. (Or used to anyway). Failing that, you can get filters and have permanent red.

I use the petzl e-light. The older with with the proper elastic strap instead of the newer one with the thinner strap, older is more comfy for longer and avalible on ebay cheaply. See here for specs of the new one;

Anyone tried the decathalon rechargeable one? Looks v lightweight and can be unclipped and attached to clothing etc.

I have been looking at it, for a while! Chaard, it's features personalized profiles, so you can set it up to only use 'Red' at dusk & full 'white' during the night-time proper. But at £100 looks like I will need to save my pennies.

I got mine for £15. Red first then 3 different intensities of white.
Runs off 3 AAA batteries.
Not the most powerful, but the brightest setting has been sufficient to cover a couple of miles on the trail in the pitch black when I've been a bit late getting to my camp spot. In a heavy shower too!

Wrapper off a Babybel cheese with a bit of duct tape converts any torch.
Plus you get a tasty snack and don't forget to save the wax it's useful as well

My Mrs got me a head torch with red light,dimmable and has an auto feature that you swipe over it to turn it off.
Think it was only about £10
Good bit of kit for the price
