Recycled Leather Question

I love recycling (tight). Just wondered, has anyone used old leather biker jackets to make sheaths, bags, etc?

Not tried a jacket, but just wombled this saddle and swapped the leather with Twodogs for an axe:

You'd struggle to make a decent sheath from clothing/upholstery type leather, its just too soft.

bags are a doddle from that type of stuff though.

Agreed, cloting leather isn't the right type for sheaths etc.
You could make a nice pouch to hold your billy/ hobo stove, flint and steel, tinder etc though
