Re-purposing an old knife

Wife was getting rid of an old Ikea, blunt serrated bread knife we found in the back of the drawer when we moved in.

...So I nabbed it to have a play with in the workshop:

All done freehand on this: (note to self, must make some jigs to get even angles!)

Also made a temporary sheath out of some ali plate:

A bit of a run on a honing stone and it's paper slicingly sharp, just need to find an old belt to make a strop

Not amazing, but i'm happy for a first time re-making a knife :)

Good idea. I've got a bread knife which got left in the oven, might give it the same treatment and a new handle.

Proud of this one, my first shave-sharp edge!

Now looking out for some old leaf springs and have ordered some bits for a mini forge.

Why do I suddenly get the feeling this may be the beginning of a slippery slope?!
