good afternoon all!
following another good thread from storm (i think i cant find the thread-sry if not), i got thinking,
amadou is prepared from fomes fomentarius to increase flammability and ease of light? following this and onto storms thread i saw he managed an ember with razor strop-piptoporous betulinus-i tried this and it worked really well......
anyway i have a massive peice of razor strop fom a very generous birch-i have used the strop so its now useless and i though the innards would go well in a pouch for mobile lighting but the stuff is crumbly and doesn't catch sparks too well....
soooo i was wondering if amadou methods have been used to create tinder in other bracket fungi, if not i think i will try soon as i think in a leather like form it would be really usefull as here in the SW fomes is not an easy fungus to find
however i do not really want to loose the qualities of spark catching!!!
anyways food for thought!
