Radio communications?

I have a Foundation exam planned for January. All RSGB exams are on line at present and I'm taking advantage of it. My ability to attend a club regularly is hampered by my job. I'm an ex-RN Radio Operator and hold my maritime Long Range Radio Cert. I'm not exactly sure who I'll be talking to but it sounded interesting so I'll give it a go.
Yeah I plan to do mine, just as a nice little project really 
There is also a fab app from radio society of Great Britain which is good for practise, need to use it in conjunction with the foundation book though

It's so long since I've used my gear I can't even remember my call sign!!

Broch, do you know of any amateur radio groups that are local to my location by any chance?

Have a look at the RSGB website. They are sure to have a list or search option for finding local clubs.
Check out Facebook too, you will find quite a few clubs on there, both normal clubs and contest clubs and societies.
