Question for the leather workers...

imo they are not the right shape as a proper punch has diamond shape prongs so that the thread sits side by side in the hole.ie you pull one up at right angles and the thread on the other side down at right angles to the line of stitches.
These appear to be square on to the line of stitching so you wont get the same neatness as a proper punch,that said they are cheap and would probably be a useful starting kit.

that is pretty much a 6mm one mate - the sizing is kinda odd.....

They don't use a width for the iron, they use a number of prongs (1, 2, 3, 4 or 6).

These are expressed as a x b mm on the shop, so 6x4mm means 6 prongs 4mm stitches etc.

The stitches are stitches per inch = 25.4mm / stitch length:


4mm ~= 6.3 stitches per inch

THIS is a great thread that helps to explain - I had bought a few without realising the relevance before I saw this which really helps ;)

what i'm looking for is 6mm centres ( 4 stitches to the inch ) and the prongs to be either diamond or 1mm round.

help !
