Hi all

Been out of the game a while but looking for a good quality (soft) ferro rod "firesteel" for a present for someone- even better if it came with a nice leather holder.

What have you got?

I can’t help with one myself, but it’s great you know the difference between the softer mischmetal and harder ferrocerium Light My Fire type firesteels. I used to buy mine from Going Gear in the US, but it became too expensive. They used to do a 12”x1” version with a video to show Marshall lighting cotton wool balls several feet away. I wish I’d bought one just for the sheer fun of it. Having got used to chucking sparkling orbs of white hot metal I was very disappointed with the harder material that just sparks and sold on my LMF and Primus steels.
