Saw this today, no pun intended, and I couldn't work it out.

A man cuts a thick piece of wood into 12 equal pieces and stacks them in two equal piles – yet there are three piles of wood. How come? :confused:

If you can solve it keep it to yourself, I'll post the answer tommorow.

In that case I've got it right :cool: :confused: :rolleyes:

But for a written answer now, theres two piles of six pieces and the pile from which the thick piece was taken :p

I wouldnt have got that. I assumed he was battoning it! I thought maybe the wood that he was resting the wood on to do the battoning was the third pile. Completely missed the mark.
