Fancied having a go at something other than the usual rucksacks that I make and, having recently made a bag from an old dinghy sail, I decided that I needed a duffle bag - just like the one I carried my sports kit around in back in the 1960s and 70s.

Had to learn to splice and whip double braided rope - every day's a schoolday.

Added a lid with a zipped pocket:

All in all, I'm quite pleased with the result and it even meets with SWMBO's approval. Just got to wait until house arrest is over so I can go out and use it.

That is excellent! I remember them: I had a dark blue one in the 70s. It was absolutely bombproof; sadly, I don't know what happened to it.

Its very stylish and practical, as all the most stylish things are.

I had a simple rectangular cotton cloth dap bag,-made by Dad.

I still have it.
