Fancied having a go at something other than the usual rucksacks that I make and, having recently made a bag from an old dinghy sail, I decided that I needed a duffle bag - just like the one I carried my sports kit around in back in the 1960s and 70s.



Had to learn to splice and whip double braided rope - every day's a schoolday.

Added a lid with a zipped pocket:



All in all, I'm quite pleased with the result and it even meets with SWMBO's approval. Just got to wait until house arrest is over so I can go out and use it.

That brings back some memories. I was never without mine back in the late 50s and early 70s. Nowadays I use a modified stuff sack. It does, however, lack the elegance of yours.

Just before my time the 60's and the only thing I was carrying in the 70s was a teddy bear so can't say I owned one personally

But that looks proper professional and I'd certainly own one of those now.
