Just out for a wander and decided to give my steel some action in the rain. I think I'll start charing some plant material and using ferrous rich stone soon.

Such shiney equipment. Knife looks brand new! Nice picture but Sparks from that flint didn't light those shavings am I right in saying? What are you using to catch a spark from it? I use char cloth (just because it's easy to make) but I know there are greater benefits to using plant fibres or charred cotton rope (reusable). It's a fun way to light fire. Like it.

Sorry I'm still not really used to how tapatalk works. I've just seen this now! Yes at the time the knife was indeed brand new. This was with Char cloth but I've since moved on to charing many natural materials to see what works best.
