Pre-Mac water filter Rattle?

A quickie for the all knowing masses.

I use a Pre-Mac MWP water filter when out and about (sadly not that much these days).

i have just started to have a look at equipment before we go to Scotland and i have noticed the filter rattles.

I can only assume it the iodine crystals in one of the filters that have either reduced in size because of use or have dried out and shrunk.

There is no way i am near to the limit of what these filters will put through (250 litres i think?) in fact i'm not even close.

Any advice? or is this normal

Mine has always rattled - I think it's the ball-bearing in the one way valve

As i understand it, they will block up way before their effectiveness drops. - Mine came with a test kit with some tablets that you put into a sample of treated water to see if it's still working
