Watched a barn owl quartering that field today Simon - at 2:30pm!

Its a huge barnie (nesting in a box in the Shires stables). I'll take you for a ander round when you come over and we'll see if we can spot it!

now that would be something to see hugh i was just saying the other day how it would be great to see a barn owl after watching that new show with chris packham, can't remember the name.

Well, can only hope to get lucky I won't disturb the nest site, but knowing where they nest is half the art of seeing them hunt - especially when they are returning to feed chicks. If we are really lucky we might see the marsh harrier
