Recently picked up another Alpiniste. Needs a lot of tlc but I thought it was an interesting design with the front pocket. Unsure of precise age but guessing 80's. Have been able to find absolutely zero information on this exact model online.

Was just away to post the same - looks like Dan00001’s alpiniste is a few years newer that the 1983 one in the link .. change in logo but very similar fixtures and fitting .. (interesting seeing the Hot Ice in the link - I still have an identical one - still in working condition)

I bought a Karrimor Hot Earth which arrived today. I instantly love this thing. I bought a Trail 35 for day day hikes but it's a bit short in the back. This isn't too much bigger litreage wise but a couple inches longer in the back which feels way more comfortable. I also think I prefer one big bucket rather than side pockets.

What capacity is that Joe Brown?
I'm not sure actually. I'd stuffed a 3 season sleeping bag AND a British Army Arctic 'bouncing bomb' sleeping bag in to take the photos. They filled the main compartment to normal level but it does have an extendable main compartment and the straps for lashing the hood down are mega long to accommodate the extendable main compartment. I would say it's got to be 50L, and a lot more if you extend the main compartment.

That is beautiful! I love the colour. I've never found one in a charity shop, yet, and I do look when I pass them.

It was a lucky find for sure. It's unused too. My son loves red so it'll be his when he's big enough to carry it loaded.

Got this a couple weeks ago for the Mrs. Her favourite colours too, green n purple. Again unused, the only marks on it were from me putting my motorbike lock on top of it!

I'm on the lookout for an Alpiniste to lash to the back o the Transalp but that Joe Brown you posted looks like a good option.
