Post pics of your old Karrimor back packs!

  • BushMoot: Come along to the amazing Summer Moot 31st July - 5th August (extended Moot : 27th July - 8th August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
This is (or would be if I could get a photo to upload) my poor old Karrimor Jaguar internal frame rucksack, bought in the 1981/82 new year sales. It's KS100E fabric is hard as nails. Sadly it's lost its belt, crampon straps and top pockets. It's been up most of the classic mountain walks in the UK including the Aonach Eagach and Cuillins. Used and used and used. I've sat on it, used it for walks, a pillow and windbreak. It's been on hiesclimbs, fishing, holidays, music festivals, house moves. It still gets occasional use as a ratty, capacious daysack, mostly just for old time's sake.

EDIT: I managed to upload some pics!

Me using it on the way up Scaffel Pike in the early 80s.

I dug my old Jaguar out today. It took me across SE Asia, New Zealand and America in the late 80's early 90's. The plastic clips for the side pouches are broken, but cable ties do the job. My daughter took it to Crete for a few months when she was volunteering for the 'ARCHELON' charity, a few years ago. It's still has alot of life in it.IMG_1771.JPG

I would like to find out more about my Jaguar 1. By 1983 they (and the Jaguar 7) were supposed to be the inferior 'Silvergard' fabric, but mine has a big leather KS100e patch on it. I assume that the originals from 1975 forward were the tougher fabric.

I'd also love to get it repaired with a new top pocket, straps and waist band. I don't suppose Karrimor might honour the lifetime guarantee?

KS100e was introduced in 1979.

Karrimor will not honour the lifetime warranty and I would imagine it would make more financial sense to buy a good condition second hand one than to pay to have it repaired

It's not about financial sense! I'd by a KS100e Jaguar 1 in good nick, and take the bits I need to sew onto mine. Ship of Theseus and all that... :)

Quite a few repairs & quite a few mods. A Karrimor Jaguar S60-82, not a common model. The camo side pouch I made from a retired PLCE bergen.

I found another Karrimor Trail 35 for £13 so grabbed it. This one is going to my Niece who's shown an interest in doing some walking and camping. Again it's literally like brand new.

Does a ‘92, 30ltr Jura pack count, still going strong. No internal frame so great for putting in lockers, shame the laminated material inside is now failing!
