East Riding of Yorkshire
I am an urban Abbo
As in aborigine
I like to make things ‘primitive’
From sticks and string, you see
I can make an Atlatl
Or a blowgun and its darts
Half the fun’s researching
The long forgotten arts
With a scrap of leather
And a decent length of string
I can chuck rocks at rabbits
With a crude, effective sling
Or fashion a bow from a branch
To try and catch my tea
Then make fire by friction
To cook it up for me
Then I’ll see what’s growing
What’s there to make a brew
Nettles to make tea
Dandelion for coffee too
So, as I snuggle down into my shelter
And listen to the fox’s bark
I could almost be a thousand miles away
Instead of in the local park.
