I have a load of these growing near by all with lots of fruits on.

I cannot identify it and woudl be grateful for any advice please.

Could be wrong, but it looks like a Crap apple? possible Malus x Robuta ' red sentinel'.

The largest ones are around 1 - 11/2 inches across
mainly hard texture, although some seem to have ripened and went a wee bit softer

i'd go with crab apple aswell, i thought the fruit looked cherry like until i saw them cut open. way too late in the season for cherry too. and the leaves are very appley.
