I don't know what it is. I'm sitting with my helpful new book on flowers divided by colour
(for beginners!) but a close study of chapters lilac and mauve haven't led me in any
definite direction.

At first I thought 'mallow' but googling them suggests that the leaves aren't quite right,
but the petals aren't too bad, but still not right! I suppose it's a bit like maths, it can't
be partly correct hehe.

Does look vaguely crane's bill-y, but still not sure.

1. When was the photo taken?
2. What habitat?

I've got chapters on habitat I can take a wander through :)

Cornwall...
Not got my books with me, but looks like a mallow or geranuim of some sort....If so should be edible, or useful medicinally...

Looks like one of the Crane's Bill family to me (geraniaceae) Perhaps the French crane's bill. It is a native of the Pyrenees but now naturalised in many parts of Britain.
