Too many shapes and sizes and built in too many Boreal Forest countries to call any one of them "authentic."

I can draw a log cabin with a loft and a front verandah running on 3 sides from memory. Nothing special
with dreadful insulation.

It depended in how many strong sons they had, when they built a log cabin.
Being a Japanofile, I have tried to search articles about Japanese Archeology (written in english) but not much out there.
And what ‘old’ buildings they have look like they were totally rebuild and restored last year.

Log homes are not uncommon in the forest cities of British Columbia.
Never been in one as fancy as the gallery from Pioneer Log Homes.
Kind of like our ordinary 3 bedroom, 2 bath, full basement houses.
You couldn't pay me to live in one. They look great with tens of kilowatts of lighting.
They are gloomy. Dark. Some had redone some walls flat and painted them white.
