You can see that it works, though unless the wood is down near the bottom not all the inner holes fire.
It renders the wood to hardly anything, which I'm assuming means it works okay.
Also, surprising (to me, anyway), was the fact the real heat seemed to come when the flames went and there were just hot charcoals at the bottom. I had the kettle on there for a while, as I checked how it was burning, and stoked with small chunks of wood, but then, when the flames died down, there was a sudden rush of a boil, like when a kettle starts.
