I love pressure lanterns, these Petromax beasties are a work of art!

I've the HK500 and the HK150 in, but not all finishes in each size yet, I'm expecting them in though.
I'll be liberating one of these for Middlewood - demonstration purposes of course!

Easiest to do a picture I think Martyn....

Left to right:
HK150, Vapalux, HK500

All paraffin burners.
I intend to carry the spares but just got the lamps and reflectors for the moment.

Many thanks Lurch, that 500 is a whopper. :D

Do you know the total height of the 150? I want to know if it would stand inside my zarges box?

Rik - how do these petromax jobs compar to my Bialladin in terms of ease of use, brightness & run time?

8 or 123 maybe a 210 for longer distance cooking power.

123 it is. Goes very well with the 1ltr Primus Eta set, and common fuel with the 222.

No comment, ask bilmo-p5 who may have more experience than me.

There won't be much in it, Mr Red. Personally, I'm not keen on the quicklighters; they do prime quicker than spirit but the use up pressure very quickly. I haven't owned a Petromax for quite a long time but I don't recall it being any better or any worse than the Tilleys and Vapalux I've owned. If there's enough light to comfortably read by I'm happy enough. If you have a Bialaddin I should stick with it. TTBOMK there's no shortage of spares for them.

I've got a 500cp petromax and also an Optimus Petromax copy and also a Vapalux M320... In terms of useability the Vapalux is as good as the Petromax style lanterns there is nothing in it TBH....

Ian, can I ask ? I have two old Tilleys in need of spares but have been given a Vapalux (unused MOD) but I 'really' struggle to get it lit properly. Pouring, well really trying to squirt, with the little bottle into the fitted preheater leaves my hands and everything else stinking of meths) I 'liked' the little meths heater clamp of the Aladdins.....is there one or sommat similar that would work with the vapalux ?

Must admit Lurch, thon brass petromax looks rather good :D

cheers,
Toddy
