just been looking through the classifieds..., seeing all the beautiful knives out there, then reading "over 18 only" and going oh no, then realizing i am 18 now and i only need some money now.... lol
me feeling in a random mood today

I remember doing that. I used to lie about my age to get in the pub. Even after I turned 18 I used have the "I hope I don't get carded" thoughts! It takes a while to get out of the under 18 mindset.
Mind you, I'm 36 now, so haven't been asked for Id for a while :(

oh crap, i was hoping on nice pictures of bushcraft females when i entered this thread.

personly i think its outrageous that you need to be 18 to buy knives.
how is kids supposed to get knives for their bushcraft/fishing kit.
but this isn't any of my business, and i shouldn't comment on it any further.

I did similar sort of thing a while back; hadn't thought about bushcraft since i was kid and couldn't get a knife.
Realised i could now and just sort of got on with it finally...

my mum always bought me any knife i wanted anyway as long as i paid for it

They have to get them as a gift from someone else. Mind you, if someone of BCUK decided to send you a knife that they posted on the classified ads, and you decided to be nice and send them a paypal payment, does that still count as buying a knife? Anyway, it would be up to the children's parents to decide if they want to buy their son/daughter a knife. Just my tuppence worth.
