Fine sentiment Alba; for someone who lives in a country with the right of responsible access on it's statute books.
The rest of the UK ain't so lucky.
Campsites have pros as well as cons.
Pros are;
Definitely access where there otherwise is none.
Open fires where otherwise there is no scope for them.
Safe drinking water and sewage disposal.
Group meet ups become possible, and with good like minded company, that's a holiday in itself
They are sustainable; the site is cared for and not abused, and it limits damage by multi users on pristine woodlands.
Cons;
It costs money though that is more often than not a very reasonable sum.
Solitude isn't guaranteed.
Can be limited in the natural resources one is permitted to use.
Can't think of any others tbh
Horses for courses I reckon; go where it suits you best.
cheers,
Toddy
