Recently ther were a couple of threads asking about outdoor careeers. I thought I'd post this link for those who are interested: www.fs.fed.us/fire/people/smokejumpers There are also smokejumpers in Canada but they're a bit harder to find links for. From what I gathered the Canadian Smokejumpers are employed by the individual prvince's Forest Services.
